Okay. It's been way too long since I've written for the website. I've decided that I'm going to alter the way I've been writing in order to encourage more frequent updates. Instead of article-style posts, I'm going to write quick updates and share sweet memories for they are quickly happening each and everyday. First of all, thank you to all those who have shared in Tessa's birth by looking at the pictures and posting meaningful responses. It's so hard to be away from all of you during this special time for our family. It's one of the few times I've wanted to apologize for living in
Africa , knowing how deeply our decision affects so many other people. We are thankful for the ways our dear family and friends have encouraged us and supported us despite the apparent sacrifice they endure due to our life decision.
Tessa is now two weeks old and we still can't decide fully who she looks like. Many people say Connor and some say she looks like me (finally!). Mark and I actually think she resembles Luke's early pictures, though her hair is much lighter. Regardless, we're all rooting for our first blue eyed child.
Â
The children have been so loving toward Tessa. They simply can't keep their lips off her cheeks! Luke, especially, is very smitten by her. He announced to me the other day that he no longer wants to play outside, nor watch any movies. He said he only wants to sit and be with Tessa because she is so beautiful. Sweet Lydia Jane has already been punished for picking up and carrying Tessa without asking. It's difficult punishing a child for something she was so very proud of! Connor seems to be the first to recognize a change in attention from mom and dad. This week he told me he needed a special day with just me so we're planning to have an ice cream date at The Source Cafe. I praise God for all four of my children and their precious ways that make them unique.Â

Mark is in a major dad mode keeping Luke, Connor and Lydia Jane busy and cared for. He's also been quite the chef in the kitchen, making Chicken and Dumplings, Chicken Tikki Masala (Indian) and tonight I hear Mongolian Beef is on the menu. And all I seem to accomplish is a load of laundry and several episodes of nursing! Mark is such an attentive father and husband, to which I am very grateful. Overall, these past two weeks has reminded me just how much I love sharing life with my family.
