A lot has happened since our last post.  The loss of our teammate Adam Langford and friend Moses Kimeze on January 16th shocked us and shaped and reshapes much of what goes on around us and inside of us.  Our team followed Adam “home” to America to be together and send him “home” to God.  During the next three months, our team will slowly return “home” to Uganda and the work we have been called to share in there.  Of course there are still a lot of questions about what life and our work in Uganda will look like without Adam and Moses in the picture, and grief we will experience when their absence at particular times and places become obvious again. But we anticipate how our Creator God will act in our world in the midst of death to restore and resurrect.  We already can thank Him for safely bringing into our world Noah Adam Langford on February 28th to our teammates Ben and Kym.  God is truly life!

Read Mark's reflections and farewell to Adam and Moses but also check out the journal and video of Mark and Adam's journey on Mt. Elgon in September last year.

We have been in Michigan since late January processing and healing with Lori’s family and our Rochester church family.  We’ve also been re-envisioning our time on furlough.  Mark will head back to Uganda for two weeks at the beginning of March to be with our Ugandan friends and discern what God will do amongst our churches in Busoga.  It is difficult to be separated from each other in order to connect to others, so pray for our family during this time.  At the end of April we will be heading down to Mt. Dora and Vero Beach , FL to spend time with Mark’s family and home church there.  Lori will head to Fuller Seminary for a two week seminar in May towards her M.A. in Global Leadership.  At the end of May we will be on our way back to Jinja.

But our children...

have kept us busy, entertained, and full of life.  The kids rediscovered cold weather and snow and have seized the opportunity to enjoy their old climate anew.  Luke in particular is unfazed by even sub-zero temperatures!  I recently put together a video of our kids, their Michigan cousins and Papa enjoying the "snow business."  Download it here:

thumb_200703-_013cWe recently celebrated Lydia Jane’s fourth birthday with a crib, a cake, and Canada .  The little crib provides a bed for her baby doll Lucy and another way to be like her cousin Anna.  The cake was the sweet traditional taste of birthdays at home.  And Canada kept alive a streak L.J. brought alive in our family - igniting our interest in foreign missions.  Lydia Jane has celebrated her four birthdays in four different countries: Guatemala , the USA , Uganda , and now Canada .  Thanks to her Papa Gresham and G.G. for whimsically and spontaneously joining along.  Check out the pictures from our day.

Stay tuned for pictures and postings (perhaps) along the way.  Pictures can be found in the 2007 Furlough album.
